BELPHEGOR: New Album Release Date Confirmed
August 3, 2010Nuclear Blast Records has set a January 14, 2011 European release date for the as-yet-untitled ninth full-length studio album from the Austrian blackened death metal outfit BELPHEGOR. The CD is being laid down in five different recording sessions and should be completed by the beginning of October.
BELPHEGOR began recording its new album on June 19 at Abyss Studios in Pärbly, Sweden with producer Peter Tägtgren (IMMORTAL, CELTIC FROST, HYPOCRISY, DIMMU BORGIR).
BELPHEGOR bassist Serpenth previously stated about the band's upcoming CD, "[The new material is] BELPHEGOR to the bone — nine monumental, epic arrangements. The sound collages have a haunting, ritualistic atmosphere. Werk IX will be the longest playing BELPHEGOR album yet."
BELPHEGOR will embark on the "Walpurgis Rites Raid Europa 2010" tour in October. Support on the trek will come from Norwegian black metal rockers VREID and progressive black/death newcomers EMANCER.
